So you’ve finally decided to make the leap and start investing in real estate – congratulations! Whether you are doing it as a side hustle or making it a full-time gig, there are so many benefits to being a real estate investor. However, one of the things that can be challenging about real estate investing is managing your own schedule and staying organized. Here are some tricks to help you stay motivated and productive while working for yourself.
Use a daily planner
Laying out your schedule for that day is going to be crucial to your overall success. As a landlord, there’s so much that you have to keep up with to ensure your properties are running effectively. Keep a daily planner, either a physical one or using your smartphone, and reference it often. Anytime you have a meeting, a bill due, or any other important date, write it down. On top of that, you can use your daily planner to put together a rough schedule for the day to keep you on task.
Have a designated working space
When you’re just getting started as a real estate investor, it can be easy to end up just hanging out in your bedroom with your computer for most of the day – which is not at all conducive to productivity. Instead, create a designated workspace for yourself where you can really focus. For some people, this might mean investing in an office space, but it could also mean heading to the library or a coffee shop, or even renting a desk at a co-working space, which is much more affordable than a full office.
Stay on top of your budget
To maximize your profits when you’re starting out as an investor, it’s important to keep your general overhead low. To do this, you’ll need to look for ways to cut costs. Look for the most affordable versions of the tools you need, instead of just the most convenient. You should also keep a very detailed record of all the money you spend, and keep an eye out for tax breaks you can use
